About MOSFET Electronic Component

The 7805 5V Voltage Regulator IC is a widely used three-terminal positive linear regulator designed to provide a stable 5V DC output from a higher DC input voltage. It is commonly used in electronic power-supply circuits where a regulated 5V supply is required.

The regulator converts excess input voltage into heat while maintaining the required regulated output voltage. For example, when supplied with a suitable input above 5V, the 7805 provides a regulated 5V output for compatible electronic circuits.

The TO-220 version features three terminals for simple through-hole PCB mounting. The standard pin configuration is Input, Ground and Output, making the component easy to integrate into conventional power-supply designs.

The 7805 family incorporates protection features such as internal current limiting, thermal overload protection and safe-area protection, helping protect the regulator during overload and excessive-temperature conditions.
